A gold standard would in essence stall economic growth because the supply of money that keeps on funding new innovations and ideas would just contract. The amount of gold and precious metals out there is ridiculously small, especially when compared to the amount of people in america and the world (About 100,000 tons exist ~ 300 million people in the USA), and would only serve to frustrate the liquidity of money.!

But, this is what I do for a living, and have for more than 20 years. I study the interaction of the ocean with rocks, and what the effects are. I did my thesis on the active submarine volcano with the highest known CO2 in its hydrothermal system.All are entitled to their opinions, but those opinions have only the merit of the information that informs them. To state that this or that effect is too big, or too small, without knowing the potential quantities involved is simply not convincing. Scare tactics don't work on science. Doubting the premise because you don't like the proposed solution is a fallacy.

I was able to obtain some tritium key fobs. For some reason the NRC is OK with the watch and gun sights, but not these. Thank you, eBay :) It is damned handy when trying to find your keys in the dark.
