I think you might be taking things way too seriously. 2012 is just some innocent fun, I don't think anyone (particularly the makers of this movie) think it's for real.
Wubi is nice, but the only thing that keeps me from using it is that I can't access the Windows side from Linux. I use Linux more and more and it comes in handy to be able to get to any Windows files I may have without rebooting. YMMV. I have used it for some of my friends who are porn hounds and have routinely crashed their systems when they've surfed dirty.
